Pure Barre is on of the largest barre franchises with over 600 studios, and also happens to be my personal favorite. It was founded in Birmingham, Michigan in 2001. Pure Barre is a results oriented method and is great for all fitness levels. It is highly adaptable for those who need special modifications. Pure Barre is low impact, meaning it will be easy on your joints. Pure Barre Classic is Pure Barre’s original class. I feel particularly qualified to give a review on this class since I have been to seven Pure Barre studios and I estimate between 300-400 classes.

Pure Barre Classic Review

Studio and Class:

Pure Barre Baton Rouge – Classic

Description:

Pure Barre Classic is Pure Barre’s original class, the class is low impact, full body, and follows the same format every class (love this). The class uses a ballet barre, light weights, their special resistance band, and a mini ball. One of the toughest barre classes around!

Class Length:

50 minutes

Drop In Rate/Membership:

$30 (this varies by location)

Vibes:

This studio is super welcoming and you are guaranteed to make some friends if you try. The participants are mostly women of all sizes and ages.

Locker Room Situation:

Only one bathroom for changing, no shower, open cubbies for your belongings.

Sweat Scale:

5/10 (depends on the outside temp and class movements for me, plank series always make me sweat more)

Intensity Scale:

7/10

What To Bring/ Wear:

You are required to wear full length leggings and wear socks that cover your toes! They do have sticky socks available for purchase for around $15.

This is the brand of sticky socks that is sold in studio.

Additional Comments:

I have been to 7 different Pure Barre studios and they all have a slightly different vibe and each class can be great or blah depending on the instructor (that may just be the instructor in me talking). But, overall Pure Barre is my favorite barre franchise out there. You must give the technique time (~10 classes) to fully understand what is going on, but once it clicks you will be hooked!
