My Fav Natural Beauty Products

I recently finished three rounds of the Moxi laser and I wanted to share my before and after since I am thrilled with my results.

Some background: I have been on a journey with my skin since I can remember. It’s hard to remember a time when I was happy with my skin. Even as a 12/13 year old I remember feeling so self conscience at how oily my skin would get. I went through Accutane during college, it very a very temporary fix. I also have tried about anything else you could possibly try at home/over the counter to get rid of acne.

At the beginning of 2023, I felt so fed up with my terrible skin and was in a good spot financially to start trying some more invasive treatments at an Aesthetician office. I have had a VI Peel, microneedling, BBL Forever Clear, and most recently the Moxi laser. The BBL Forever Clear did an amazing job of taming my acne and I have been able to keep my face mostly clear with the exception of a small blemish every once in a while. However, the years of bad acne and harsh chemicals I had used had scarred, caused hyperpigmentation and Melasma. I wanted to feel confident with zero makeup and I just wasn’t there yet. My sweet aesthetician suggest Moxi, it was meant for younger people wanted to address early signs of aging (like me). Therefore, I pulled the trigger and bought 3 Moxi treatment and have no regrets!

Before a Moxi Treatment

It is recommended to not have sun exposure, fake tan, or use any active ingredients about 14 days prior to the treatment. I always show up to the office with a bare face, I am numbed with a topical numbing gel for about 30-40 minutes. I usually bring a book to read to kill the time. Once I am good and numb, they cleanse my face to prepare for the treatment.

During the Moxi Treatment

The treatment itself is very fast. It was just a few passes with the Moxi laser and I was good to go. The machine makes a weird zapping noise and there is a strange smell that is super temporary. Without the numbing cream it would feel like my skin is getting burnt off. But since I am numbed the pain is very tolerable and just feels like a sunburn. Some areas are worse than others.

After the Moxi Treatment

The after Moxi is probably the worst pain for about 2 hours. It is feels like your face is burnt and that is kind of how you look. After the first treatment I bought the aftercare they recommended along with a very expensive face mask which did help a lot. I could not justify to buy two more though since the pain was so temporary. I was instructed to not wash my face until the morning and use a gentle cleanser and the aftercare I had bought. I was not to wear any makeup for the first 24 hours so I did look a bit crazy at work but nobody said anything.

Starting the day after the Moxi laser you start to get little black flakey specs on your skin, it is the pigment coming out of your skin. It is super satisfying to see the imperfections coming to the surface to slough away. I was told to not pick or scrub my skin. It will feel like sandpaper for about a week but it is temporary. You are allowed to wear makeup during this time but I found it looked awful. Sometimes things just have to be worse before they are better.

My Moxi Laser Before and After

My before pictures were taking right before I walked in for my appointment in my car. I took my after pictures sitting on the couch typing up this post. I am wearing only an un-tinted mineral sunscreen. Overall, I am so happy with my results and am constantly out and about without makeup on without thinking about my skin. I would highly recommend Moxi to someone who is looking to even out their skin tone post acne.
